Professor Harwood offers an alternative understanding to Original Sin than normally presented by the Reformed position. Indeed Harwood employs key biblical passages and makes a sound case that the Reformed position appears to conflict with the confessional statement of the Southern Baptist Convention, the largest Protestant denomination in the United States.

Dr. Harwood presently serves as Professor of Theology (occupying the McFarland Chair of Theology), Director of the Baptist Center for Theology & Ministry, and Editor of the Journal for Baptist Theology & Ministry at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in New Orleans, Louisiana (NOBTS). He previously served for 13 years in church staff positions in Oklahoma and Texas. Prior to being elected to the faculty of NOBTS in 2013, he taught at three other institutions. Dr. Harwood holds a B.A. in History Education from the University of Central Oklahoma and an M.Div. and Ph.D. in Theology from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
